Things always appear more pre-designed when reflecting back on the path one has followed in life. Like most people I didn’t have a clue what was coming down the road to meet me but I knew that it would somehow involve making art.

I was born in Durham, North Carolina and spent a typically normal childhood growing up in a series of nondescript towns. I got a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond in Virginia before moving to New York to receive an MFA from Pratt Institute. The art scene of New York City was inspiring and I developed a lot living there but it never felt like home. A job offer eventually led me to San Francisco where I now reside.
